HOBO MicroRX Station
The MicroRX Station uses HOBOlink, Onset’s cloud-based software to access data with a web browser or mobile device. LEARN MORE.
Overview
The compact and rugged HOBO MicroRX Station is an easy-to-deploy, low-cost cellular solution for long-term, reliable field monitoring. Two power source options are available: a solar panel for extended deployments, and user-replaceable batteries for flexible mounting in covered or protected locations. The station includes inputs for up to five of Onset’s research-grade plug-and-play sensors, and can be ordered with an additional water level sensor input with integrated flow conversion. Configurable station-side alarms trigger immediate notifications of critical conditions, and Onset’s cloud-based HOBOlink platform makes it easy to view, access, and share data.

Are there Ethernet or Wi-Fi options for the HOBO MicroRX?
The HOBO MicroRX is a cellular station. If you need to monitor via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, you can use the HOBO RX3000 Remote Monitoring Station.
If I choose the battery-powered MicroRX, can I add a solar panel later?
No, the battery-powered station is only wired for use with lithium batteries, not for use with the solar panel. If you want to use solar power, choose one of the solar-powered stations: the RX2102 or the RX2104.
Can I add more plug-and-play smart sensors to my HOBO MicroRX Station?
Yes. You can add the S-ADAPT-6 Consolidator Box to connect up to five additional smart sensors with your MicroRX Station.
Why would I need an additional solar panel if I choose the integrated solar MicroRX station?
You may want an additional solar panel to boost power to ensure connectivity at the maximum 10-minute rate. It may also be a good option if your system is not deployed in full sun.
Does the HOBO MicroRX work with HOBOnet wireless motes?
The HOBO MicroRX Station has inputs for up to five plug-and-play smart sensors. If you need wireless monitoring, use the RX3000 with the RXW Manager for HOBOnet sensors.
Do the S-CIA or S-VIA analog inputs adapters fit in the HOBO MicroRX Station?
No. If you want to use these adapters to connect analog sensors, use the S-ADAPT-6 Consolidator Box and mount the adapters in this.
What tools will I need to install the HOBO MicroRX?
If you are mounting your station with cable ties, you will need diagonal cutting pliers for cutting off excess cable tie. If you are mounting with U-bolts, you will need a ½” box wrench. If using screws to mount your station, you will need a Phillips-head screwdriver.

2-meter tripod with mast used for mounting loggers and other sensors in a weather station application. This tripod is not adjustable for sloping surfaces. (Cross arms, data logger, sensors, and radiation shield sold separately.)
This Rain Gauge Smart Sensor measures rainfall with intensity up to five inches per hour with a resolution of 0.01 inch, and 1% accuracy for rainfall rates up to 1"/hour. The tipping bucket mechanism is mounted on a stainless steel shaft with brass bearings. This model includes a 2m cable.
Also available in a wireless model for use with the HOBOnet Field Monitoring System.
This affordably-priced soil moisture sensor offers a two-tine design for easy installation. In addition, the EC-5 is a smart sensor, allowing users to launch monitoring systems quickly, easily, and affordably. Since HOBO data loggers recognize this sensor, no complicated programming or setup is required. The EC-5 integrates with the field-proven ECH2O™ Sensor and a 12-bit A/D. It provides ±3% accuracy in typical soil conditions, and ±2% accuracy with soil-specific calibration. Readings are provided directly in volumetric water content. This sensor is designed to maintain low sensitivity to salinity and textural effects.
Also available in a wireless model for use with the HOBOnet Field Monitoring System.
The Wind Sensor Set includes Onset's research-grade plug-and-play Wind Speed Smart Sensor and the Wind Direction Smart Sensor. This combination provides average wind speed, highest 3-second wind gust, and average wind direction for the measurement interval. These durable sensors will provide many years of accurate and reliable performance.
NOTE: Mount these on the M-CAA Full Cross Arm for proper sensor spacing for accurate wind measurement in all wind directions.
The cross arm must be mounted on a stable mast, using guy wires as needed to prevent the sensors from vibrating in high winds.
