What is changing with HOBOlink?

HOBOlink has upgraded to a redesigned platform, now LI-COR Cloud™, with enhancements inspired by customer feedback and requests.  The process of migrating all existing user accounts to the new HOBOlink/LI-COR Cloud experience is underway. This affects any customer who previously accessed legacy HOBOlink (via hobolink.com) prior to January 27th, 2025.  We expect this transition to be complete by the end of February.

This page outlines what existing HOBOlink users need to know about the transition. If you have never logged in to hobolink.com (are a new HOBOlink user), please register your account on the login page for the new HOBOlink platform, here: https://www.licor.cloud/
We will update this page frequently as needed to keep you up-to-date.

For a look at what the new HOBOlink offers, view our HOBOlink preview webinar below from August, 2024.

Overview of Changes to the HOBOlink Monitoring Platform

Account Migration

HOBOlink accounts will be migrated to the next-generation experience in batches.

You will receive two emails from us related to your account transition: one when your account migration is underway and another once the process is complete and you can access the new platform.

It may take up to 24 hours to migrate your account. No changes can be made in the system during this time.

While your account is being migrated, HOBOlink access and uploads from RX and MX devices will be paused. However, all your devices and data will be saved during the transition. We appreciate your understanding as we want to ensure each account's data successfully transfers.

Accessing New HOBOlink via LI-COR Cloud™

The redesigned HOBOlink platform will be hosted on LI-COR Cloud™. (LI-COR has acquired Onset, owner of the HOBO brand.)

Once your account is migrated, you can access the new HOBOlink here: https://www.licor.cloud/

(The LI-COR Cloud log in page will look different from the former HOBOlink, but never fear! You are in the right place!)

IMPORTANT:
1.    You will use your existing account’s email address to access the new platform.
2.   You must reset your password before logging in: (Click “Log In,” select “Forgot Password?”, and enter the email associated with your account)

MX Gateways Need to Be Reconfigured

MX GATEWAY CUSTOMERS: Once your account has been migrated, you will need to reconfigure your MX Gateway to ensure the security of your account. Once you've reconfigured, all outstanding data collected by your Gateway will be pushed to HOBOlink and regular connections will resume.

Note: Log in to your new account in the HOBOconnect app (via Settings), first, before reconfiguring.

Moving forward, newly purchased MX Gateways will NOT require an plan. (See below for information on the new MX Data Plans for all MX data loggers.)

Custom Dashboards in New HOBOlink

Unfortunately, due to the technical complexity of replicating dashboards, your customized dashboards will not migrate over. We recommend that you take detailed screenshots and notes for any dashboards you want to recreate in the new HOBOlink platform before migration begins. You'll be able to quickly recreate existing dashboards with the new tools and templates we've developed. The HOBOlink Help Center has more information about HOBOlink's new Dashboard engine.

Devices and Data Migration

Except for U30s, all devices and data will migrate over to the new HOBOlink experience. (See the Data Plan and Device Changes section below for detailed information for each type of device.)

Data older than 1 year will not be available immediately — any data logged before February 2024 will become accessible in the new system in the coming weeks. Please contact us for assistance if you need access to older data sooner.

U30 data will NOT transfer over to your new account.

Data Uploads

Data uploads and alarms will be paused during the migration of your account. Once your account has been successfully migrated, RX devices will upload all data collected during the pause and resume connecting to HOBOlink a regular basis.

See notes below on data from MX loggers pushed via HOBOconnect for additional important information.

Existing Exports

Existing exports will transfer over to your new account.

Scheduled Deliveries

Scheduled delivery information will be applied to each export that is included in an existing scheduled delivery. You'll now be able to manage deliveries for each export, reducing the impact of errors in one report for a larger scheduled delivery. There are some minor differences in the delivery frequencies between the current generation and next generation HOBOlink experiences. We will apply the closest frequency available in the new system to existing exports. You can edit that frequency post-migration if needed.

API Enhancement

We are transitioning to a new, modern API offering. Once your account has been migrated, you will need to transition to the new API. Details on that transition are available here: https://www.onsetcomp.com/hobolink-transition-info

FAWN Integration

Due to changes to the grower network program, FAWN integration will not be supported with Next Gen HOBOlink.

ET Calculated Channels

HOBOlink no longer supports calculated Evapotranspiration channels.

Dew point Included

Dew point is now automatically included for any sensor with combined Temp/RH.

HOBOlink Data Plan & Device Changes

New RX Data Plans: Streamlined Solutions

To streamline and improve the HOBOlink data plan purchasing process, we're releasing new RX data plans along with the next generation HOBOlink experience. During migration, we will migrate over your current RX station data plan to the best fit new plan. There will be no additional charges or fees associated with the transition to a new data plan. If you have a true end date, your station will keep your current renewal cycle and plan end date. Stations without a true end date will receive a new plan end date one year from migration.

MX Data Plans for MX Gateways

MX Gateways will no longer require a data plan going forward.

During migration for MX Gateway loggers, we will apply a best fit plan with a one-year end date for each logger. This will replace any active MX Gateway plan. MX loggers pushed via HOBOconnect will require purchase and activation of a MX data plan to continue using the full features of HOBOlink.

MX Plans for Pushed MX Logger Data (via HOBOconnect)

To continue providing you with the highest level of service and features, MX loggers that push data via HOBOconnect to HOBOlink will now require a data plan.

Any data that was pushed to HOBOlink prior to migration will remain available for export at no additional charge.

If you would like to activate the HOBOlink integration for an MX Logger after the migration, you can purchase an MX data plan at onsetcomp.com. Purchasing an MX plan will unlock the full suite of HOBOlink features, including reliable and secure data backup, powerful data visualizations, calculated measurements, and more.
