Heavy fouling on salinity logger U24-002C

We deployed our salinity logger in coastal Oregon waters, and in less than a month the optical sensor was completely covered in barnacle recruits. Has anyone had success in finding a way to reduce biofouling on the optical sensor? Or found a way to successfully remove barnacles without scratching the optical sensor?

I see this now and then. Try using a vinegar and water solution to remove the barnacles. It may take a few hours (maybe longer) but in most cases the barnacles will let go. Do not use anything to pick it off as this might damage the sensor. I hope this helps.
