Downloading data from unresponsive MX2203 error code 1042

I have 10 MX2203 water temperature loggers deployed in a lake for a scientific project. After 3 or months working properly, today they were neither able to connect as configured (although configured to activate bluetooth when emerging I had to press the front button to "see" them in the collector smartphone app) nor could I read out the data from one month of data collection as usual - a message stating "error code 1042 appeared. Does anyone has a clue on how to solve this problem or on what lead to this error message. There are other participants in the forum with the same problem and apparently there is no response or assistance from Onset... Can you please help??
