BOURNE, MA, April 28, 2003 — Onset Computer Corporation, the leader in reliable, battery-powered data loggers, today introduced the HOBO® Temperature and Humidity Monitor, a low-cost monitoring system for tracking temperature and humidity levels in vacation properties, recreational vehicles (RVs), boats, garages, and other dwellings that are periodically unattended. Housed in an attractive, decor -friendly enclosure, the monitor records and displays temperature (-4° - +122°F) and humidity (15% - 95% at +77°F). And, it can activate an optional Auto Dialer unit that can dial up to four different phone/pager numbers and transmit a voice or numeric message indicating out-of-range conditions.
New HOBO Temperature and Humidity Monitor automates indoor climate monitoring, provides instant alarm notification via phone or pager.
"As part of their overall home automation strategy, many second-home owners today not only want to keep a close eye on temperature and humidity when they are away, but also want immediate notification if conditions go beyond acceptable limits," says Mark McSherry, president of Onset. "By offering both capabilities, our new HOBO Temperature and Humidity Monitor offers users a high level of protection and peace of mind, whether they are concerned about mold growth during the summer months or freezing pipes in the winter."
The HOBO Temperature and Humidity Monitor is a standalone, battery-operated system that can be easily mounted wherever indoor temperature and humidity monitoring is necessary. It can operate for up to one year using off-the-shelf alkaline batteries, and its easy-to-read LCD indicates remaining memory capacity and battery status for ease of maintenance. Onset's BoxCar® Pro software for Windows makes it easy to set high and low level thresholds, and allows users to view collected data graphically in order to understand temperature and humidity conditions over time.
The HOBO Temperature and Humidity Monitor and optional Auto Dialer unit are currently available from Onset Computer Corporation.
