Product Marketing Specialist

Job Summary

The Product Marketing Specialist will define, shepherd, launch, and support new products, and will support existing products. This person will be responsible for researching marketing opportunities, defining market requirements for new products, and leading product-launch activities. In addition, the Product Marketing Specialist will work closely with Marketing Communications in the development of product collateral, targeting, and lead-generation activities.

Essential Functions

  • Research and aggregate requests into prioritized lists of customer problems to be solved by building relationships with key industry contacts
  • Develop application knowledge sufficient to translate user needs to value proposition statements; work with Marketing Communications to build marketing collateral that supports the product position for new and existing products
  • Work with product manager and engineering in the definition and development of solutions to problems
  • Conduct industry, market segment, customer, competitive, and technology research; compile data, perform analysis, and share insightful information; write personas when appropriate to guide organizational understanding of the customer
  • Conduct and present periodic business reviews for assigned products and/or markets
  • Provide product demonstrations and conduct product presentations for a variety of audiences, including: customers, prospects, third parties, industry forum opportunities, employees, and upper management
  • Manage products within entire product life-cycle through strategic planning and tactical execution, including forecasting responsibility annually and within a monthly window for new products
  • Provide product support and training to sales team as needed

  • Adept at maintaining strong and fruitful relationships across all internal organizations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, organizational, research, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage activities, make effective recommendations, make independent decisions using sound judgment, and communicate information in a clear, understandable, and informative manner
  • Ability to conduct professional presentations for internal and external customers concerning strategic direction and vision for assigned products

Minimum Education and Work Experience

  • Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience; MBA a plus
  • Minimum 3 years experience in technical product marketing
  • Environmental or agricultural experience a plus
