Mechanical Engineer


Reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer will join a talented team of hardware engineers developing high-quality products in the data logging solutions space. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong background in the analysis of mechanical systems, and a focus on quality and manufacturability. We are seeking someone who is ready to own a mechanical design from ideation through manufacturing, and who is ready to make a big impact.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems that perform reliably in a wide variety of environments
  • Work closely with peers in the electrical engineering team to integrate electrical systems and components
  • Collaborate with peers in the test team to develop tests to validate the mechanical designs
  • Collaborate with peers in the test team to develop test fixtures for the efficient testing of products on the manufacturing floor
  • Collaborate with members of the new product introduction team to develop jigs and fixtures to help build products
  • Create and analyze mechanical designs using SolidWorks
  • Work closely with new product introduction team to ensure designs support requirements for low/mid-volume manufacturing
  • Ensure design documentation is accurate and aligns with design documentation protocols
  • Effectively work within a team and remain open to learning and growing through continuous improvement in an agile work environment
  • Present designs to all levels of stakeholders
  • Assess, identify, and effectively eliminate risks as they evolve throughout the product development process
  • Work closely with and build key relationships with suppliers 


BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with five years of related mechanical engineering experience or demonstrated equivalent experience


  • SolidWorks (experience with PDM preferred)
  • Design for Manufacturing experience for processes including injection molding, machining, and die-cutting
  • Adequate knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis, including tolerance analysis
  • The ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear manner
  • Technical writing skills with the ability to effectively document design intent and analysis
  • Analytical thinking and strong knowledge of mechanical theories, design principles, and practices
  • Experience in product validation and design of experiments
