Engineering Project Manager

Summary

Onset is a leader in environmental monitoring solutions, from simple USB and Bluetooth products to research-grade cloud-connected stations, long-range mesh network systems, cloud and mobile software, and third-party integration tools. We prototype, design, manufacture, and ship our products from our Bourne, MA facility. Onset’s long-term success relies on its ability to develop innovative new products and enhance its existing product lines. We are seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented, organized technical project manager who can facilitate the planning and execution of complex development programs. This position will report to the VP of Engineering, and is a critical part of the overall Engineering organization. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage project teams in planning, executing, monitoring, and delivering on new products and product enhancements
  • Work across multidisciplinary hardware and software development projects, including outside contractors
  • Take responsibility for project plans, risk mitigation activities, and release deliverables - covering multiple projects at any given time
  • Drive team members for key team milestones, pulling in Engineering management for review and arbitration
  • Perform sprint planning and grooming activities
  • Provide project reporting and updates to executive management team
  • Act as a working member of Onset’s Product Development Group, which is chartered with managing the execution of the yearly product roadmap
  • Work with the VP of Engineering to ensure proper resourcing of projects and programs, and to help resolve priority conflicts between projects
  • Improve upon Onset’s product development process

Qualifications/Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in product development,
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including Agile/scrum development methods, and preferably across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Experience using product development tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Expertise in schedule and program tracking tools such as Monday.com and Microsoft Project
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong technical acumen, particularly with multifunctional systems
  • Experience in vendor and contract management
