Mechanical Engineer

Summary 

Reporting to the Director of Hardware Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer will join a talented team of hardware engineers developing high-quality products in the data logging solutions space. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong background in the analysis of mechanical systems, and a focus on quality and manufacturability. We are seeking someone who is ready to own a mechanical design from ideation through manufacturing, and who is ready to make a big impact.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems that perform reliably in a wide variety of environments
  • Work closely with peers in the electrical engineering team to integrate electrical systems and components
  • Collaborate with peers in the test team to develop tests to validate the mechanical designs
  • Collaborate with peers in the test team to develop test fixtures for the efficient testing of products on the manufacturing floor
  • Collaborate with members of the new product introduction team to develop jigs and fixtures to help build products
  • Create and analyze mechanical designs using SolidWorks
  • Work closely with new product introduction team to ensure designs support requirements for low/mid-volume manufacturing
  • Ensure design documentation is accurate and aligns with design documentation protocols
  • Effectively work within a team and remain open to learning and growing through continuous improvement in an agile work environment
  • Present designs to all levels of stakeholders
  • Assess, identify, and effectively eliminate risks as they evolve throughout the product development process
  • Work closely with and build key relationships with suppliers 

Education/Experience

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with five years of related mechanical engineering experience or demonstrated equivalent experience

Skills

  • SolidWorks (experience with PDM preferred)
  • Design for Manufacturing experience for processes including injection molding, machining, and die-cutting
  • Adequate knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis, including tolerance analysis
  • The ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear manner
  • Technical writing skills with the ability to effectively document design intent and analysis
  • Analytical thinking and strong knowledge of mechanical theories, design principles, and practices
  • Experience in product validation and design of experiments

Program Manager

Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and supporting Onset’s key customer projects in the pharmaceutical supply chain and hospital and laboratory monitoring space.  The successful individual for this role will be able to oversee a large range of activities, including customer training, technical documentation development, solution validation, technical sales support, and customer support. The program manager will work closely with the Market Segment Manager to prioritize and coordinate support for Onset’s key customer projects.

Essential Functions

  • Manages program for Onset's key strategic pharmaceutical and clinical diagnositic accounts
  • Develops technical and training support documentation
  • Leads support for customer validation testing of Onset's product solution
  • Provides customer training for Onset's product solution
  • Participates in internal coordination between Onset engineering and product marketing departments with key customers to successfully launch new customer programs
  • Provides customer support for Onset's key strategic accounts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity and experience with writing customer technical, operational, and training specifications
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Adept at maintaining strong and fruitful relationships both externally with customers and internally across the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail
  • Ability to conduct professional training and educational presentations for external customers concerning Onset’s product solutions

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in business, engineering CS, or related field
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to prioritize and execute without manager direction
  • 3+ years in project or program management position
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong MS Office user (Excel, Word, PP, Project)
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time, locally and internationally

Additional Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working in a regulated space (FDA, HIPAA, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices)
  • Software validation experience (SAAS Model)
  • Product management / development activities
  • Experience with product development tools

SMT Machine Operator

Summary

The SMT Machine Operator assembles electronics according to written manufacturing instructions and product specifications. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Requires mechanical reasoning and ability to work on/with the automated equipment
  • Relies on written and verbal instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job 
  • Works under general supervision 
  • Must have the ability to work within a team environment and assist others for the common goal
  • Reports to team lead
  • Other duties as assigned
