Coastal zones are rich in biodiversity and valued for their ecological significance and natural resources, often supporting unique and important habitats. Many ecosystems in these areas are also fragile and increasingly at risk from strong growth and development occurring along coastlines.
For this reason, it is vital to study the ecology in coastal regions and understand how these natural systems respond to changing environmental conditions. Data from monitoring programs can offer significant insights for helping better manage and protect these valuable ecosystems.
Onset data loggers provide researchers, ecologists, and planners with reliable tools for monitoring coastal and marine environments and assessing potential impacts from human activities and global climate change.
The HOBO® MX2001 is the industry’s first water level data logger designed for convenient wireless setup and download from mobile devices via Bluetooth Low Energy. The logger dramatically simplifies and lowers the cost of field data collection by providing wireless access to high-accuracy water level and temperature measurements right from a mobile phone or tablet. The MX2001 logger consists of a top-end unit and a water level sensor which are sold as a set, plus a direct read cable to connect them. Cables can be ordered in lengths from 0.2 to 500m for deployment in a wide range of wells.
The HOBO U20L-04 is a low-cost, research-grade water level data logger for continuously measuring water level and temperature in a wide range of underwater environments. It features 0.1% measurement accuracy, a polypropylene housing for use in both fresh and salt water, and a non-vented design for convenient and hassle-free deployment.
This data logger requires either the U-DTW-1 Waterproof Shuttle or the Base-U-4 Base Station for configuration and data offload, HOBOware software (free download). NOTE: HOBOware Pro is required when using the U-DTW-1 Waterproof Shuttle. See compatible items below.
Measure oxygen concentrations in lakes, streams, rivers, estuaries, and coastal waters with the HOBO U26 Dissolved Oxygen Data Logger. This affordable and precise data logger is recommended for aquatic biology and hydrology research projects. The HOBO U26 uses RDO® Basic (Rugged Dissolved Oxygen) optical DO sensor technology and is easy to maintain.
- U26-001 data logger
- DO sensor cap
- Protective Guard
- Calibration Boot with sponge
Our HOBO U26 Dissolved Oxygen logger has been part of a multi-year evaluation of DO loggers and sensors by the Alliance for Coastal Technologies (ACT), and the results have been published online. This provides an un-biased report of how our U26 performs in lab and field conditions. Note that our response letter with our added recommendations is attached at the end of this report on pages 58 and 59.
This HOBO Pendant® data logger is a miniature, waterproof two-channel temperature and relative light level data logger. The 8K model comes at a great value and is suitable for indoor, outdoor, and underwater applications. This logger holds approximately 6.5K of 10-bit readings. Use a solar radiation shield for accurate temperature measurement in sunlight.See RS1 Solar Radiation Shield (assembly required) and M-RSA (pre-assembled) Solar Radiation Shield. Note that using a solar radiation shield prevents the use of the light sensor.
