What thermocouple sensors are compatible with the HOBO Thermocouple data loggers?
The HOBO H12 Thermocouple data loggers can accept any standard thermocouple sensor of the appropriate type with standard thermocouple subminiature connectors. The Type J data logger will only work with Type-J thermocouples; likewise for the Type-K and Type-T data loggers. The U12 thermocouple data logger accepts type J, K, S, & T thermocouple sensors. Type is selected within the software at launch time. The ANSI standard thermocouple coding is:
- Type J probes (Iron-Constantan) - black
- Type K probes (Chromel-Alumel) - yellow
- Type T Probes (Copper-Constantan) - blue
If your thermocouples have stripped wire ends, there are male subminiature connections with screw terminals available. You must use the matching type of connector for the thermocouple that you are using.
The subminiature connectors have one pin (negative input) that is wider than the other. Make sure that the plug is inserted into the mating jack correctly.,/p>
