There are many situations that can cause a data logger to stop recording:

1. Rechecking the launch screen after the initial launch has been completed: Unless you are using a data logger that allows you to readout data without interrupting the launch, anytime you go back into the launch screen to check the launch parameters and do not relaunch the data logger, you are shutting the data logger off. This includes data loggers that you have set for delay or trigger launch. You will need to relaunch the data logger. Anytime that you go back into the launch screen on a data logger that has been launched for delay, trigger, or immediate start, you are shutting the data logger off. You need to relaunch the data logger to record data.

2. Power interruption while the data logger is attached to a computer: If the logger was attached to the computer and the computer shut down or the power supply to the computer was interrupted the data logger would interpret this as a connection attempt and would shut off.

3. Static electricity discharge can also shut the data logger off. Please read the information located at the following link: http://www.onsetcomp.com/Support/static_electricity.html

4. Computer Power Management Features: Many of the newer computers, primarily laptops, have a power conservation feature, which shuts the serial port off. If a HOBO or StowAway data logger is still connected to the serial port when this happens, the data logger will shut off.
