How do I use a Telaire 7001 CO2 sensor in conjunction with the external channel on a data logger?
The Telaire 7001 CO2 Monitor has been tested and used with the HOBO H8 and U12 family data loggers that have external sensor/voltage input capabilities. The Telaire 7001 CO2 sensor can be purchased directly from Onset computer, along with the cable (part# CABLE-Co2) that connects the sensor directly to the H8 and U12 loggers).
The Telaire 7001 CO2 Monitor is able to monitor and display 0-10,000 ppm, on its built-in LCD screen. However, its analog voltage output only ranges from 0-4vDC (0 - 4,000 ppm).
Due to the voltage input specifications of External input loggers, the HOBO data loggers will only record voltages of 0-2.5vDC (0-2,500 ppm). Any readings above 2.5vDC (2,500 ppm) will appear as a straight line in the graph in BoxCar software. The overvoltage into the logger will cause the other channels to read incorrectly. This does not typically damage the logger, as once the levels drop below 2500ppm the readings on the other channels should return to normal.
When converting the voltage readings to ppm,
please note that 1mV = 1 ppm.
0.001 vDC = 1 ppm
1vDC = 1,000 ppm
0 - 4vDC = 0 - 4,000 ppm
0 - 2.5vDC = 0 - 2,500 ppm
