Overview

The Alarm and Readout Tool (formerly known as Real-Time Alarm Software) is a plug-in tool that works in conjunction with HOBOware Pro to read data from HOBO® data loggers and provides real-time alarm notification when conditions exceed user-defined limits. This software also allows you to schedule logger readouts with options to store the data locally or to forward it by e-mail or FTP. The loggers can be connected directly to the computer via a USB or Serial port, or remotely through an inexpensive USB server on an Ethernet network.

FAQs

What loggers are supported by Real-Time Alarm Software? [show/hide]

All U10 and U12 loggers are fully compatible with the Real-Time Alarm Software. The loggers can connect to a USB port on the computer or remotely through an Ethernet network using a Keyspan USB Server. HOBO Weather Station (H21) and HOBO Energy Logger Pro (H22) loggers connected to a serial port on the PC are also compatible. The remote communication products for HOBO® Weather Stations are not supported.

The Alarms software is not sending notifications at the right time. [show/hide]

If you have several loggers in your alarm configuration with similar and/or short polling intervals, it is possible that the monitor will try to start polling loggers that are still being accessed by the previous polling interval. Since only one polling cycle can occur at a time, any polling cycle that attempts to start before the previous cycle has completed, will be skipped.

The graph shows a random spike in the recorded data. What may have caused this? [show/hide]

Spikes in the data file may be caused by rapid pressure changes or thermal shock (quick temperature changes).
