Wind Speed Sensors & Data Loggers
Onset offers a number of wind speed data logging solutions that can withstand the harshest environmental conditions while providing research-grade data. USB and web-based wind speed data logging solutions are available.
The new HOBO Weather Station Starter Kit combines our most rugged data logging weather station with out-of-the-box convenience.
The U30/NRC accepts up to 10 plug-and-play Smart Sensors. Just plug in your sensor and it’s automatically recognized – no programming, wiring or calibration necessary. With this kit you can measure temperature, relative humidity, wind speed/direction. Simply select the HOBO Weather Station starter system and your choice of either a 2-Meter or 3-Meter Tripod Kit and go!
Software ordered separately. Compatible with HOBOware and HOBOware Pro software for logger setup, graphing and analysis.$1399
Measure wind speed from 0 to 76 m/s (0 to 170 mph). This smart sensor provides data reporting average wind speed and highest 3 second gust for each logging interval. The starting threshold is 1 m/s (2.2 mph); sensor survives through 170 mph. This model comes with a 3m cable.$239
The Wind Sensor Set includes Onset's research-grade plug-and-play Wind Speed Smart Sensor and the Wind Direction Smart Sensor. This combination provides average wind speed, highest 3-second wind gust, and average wind direction for the measurement interval. These durable sensors will provide many years of accurate and reliable performance.
NOTE: Mount these on the M-CAA Full Cross Arm for proper sensor spacing for accurate wind measurement in all wind directions.
The cross arm must be mounted on a stable mast using guy wires as needed to prevent the sensors from vibrating in high winds.$560
The HOBO RX3000 is Onset’s next-generation remote data logging station that provides instant access to site-specific environmental data anywhere, anytime via the internet. The new station combines the flexibility and sensor quality of more expensive systems, an onboard LCD display, and the convenience of plug-and-play operation. The RX3000 has three configurable systems, that can be configured below, that consist of the following part numbers: RX3001-00-01, RX3002-00-01, and RX3003-00-01.
Monitor energy and industrial equipment with this 15-channel data logger (Part # H22-001). With multiple channels, energy and facility managers can quickly and easily detect and address a variety of issues relating to HVAC, machinery, and other systems. The HOBO H22-001 Energy Data Logger is modular and more economic than its alternatives because a toolbox full of data loggers is not necessary.
Deploy this product with a variety of pre-defined plug-and-play smart sensors to create a robust monitoring system. Compatible with HOBOware® software, researchers can conduct effective data analysis in minutes.$364
The Wind Direction Smart Sensor is a research-grade plug-and-play sensor for measuring and logging wind data. It provides average wind direction for the measurement interval. This highly-durable wind vane has a drip overhang for anti-icing. Its shielded stainless-steel ball bearings and static-dissipating housing provide a long sensor life. The sensor calculates a unit vector average of the wind direction, providing data directly in degrees.$350
The S-WCC-M003 adapter connects the R.M. Young Marine Wind Monitor Sensor (model 05106) with Onset's line of research-grade weather stations, including the HOBO U30 Remote Monitoring System, H21, and H22 weather station and energy monitoring systems. The R.M. Young 05106 Marine Wind Monitor is extra rugged for marine use.$150
The S-WCE-M003 adapter connects the R.M. Young Wind Monitor Sensor (model 05103) and the R.M. Young Alpine Wind Monitor Sensor (model 05103-45) with Onset's line of research-grade weather stations, including the RX3000, U30-NRC, H21, and H22 systems.
RM Young Model Number Application & Key Specs 05103 Wind Monitor Rugged sensor rated to 224 mph; 0.6 mph accuracy; 2.2 mph starting threshold. 05103-45 AlpineWind Monitor Wind Monitor with an ice-resistant coating for added durability in harsh alpine conditions - same specs.$150
The S-WCB-M003 adapter connects the R.M. Young Wind Monitor-AQ Sensor (model 05305) with Onset's line of research-grade weather stations, including the HOBO U30 Remote Monitoring System, H21, and H22 weather station and energy monitoring systems. The R.M. Young 05305 Wind Monitor-AQ meets EPA guidelines for air quality measurements - 0.4 mph accuracy; 0.9 mph starting thresholds; for winds up to 112 mph.$150
This rugged weather station is Onset’s most durable outdoor environmental monitoring solution. Users can easily configure the HOBO U30-NRC Weather Station to fit their application needs. Use up to 15 channels to collect environmental data and then upload to HOBOware® software for analysis. HOBOware Pro is recommended for extended features, see the comparison here. The U30-NRC has four configurable systems, that can be configured below, that consist of the following part numbers: U30-NRC-000-05-S100-000, U30-NRC-000-10-S100-000, U30-NRC-VIA-05-S100-000, and U30-NRC-VIA-10-S100-000.
Accurately monitor outdoor weather conditions with the HOBO Micro Station. This rugged data logger starts at $231 and is popular because of its compact size. It accepts up to four plug-and-play smart sensors, and has over 500k of nonvolatile flash data storage. The Micro Station can run up to 1 year on four standard AA batteries.$231
