Overview

The light intensity threshold monitored is adjustable from approximately 10 to 100 lumens. The HOBO's light sensitivity is peaked in the forward direction and can be taken advantage of to minimize the effect of other light sources when trying to determine the on/off state of a particular light source.

Specs

Time Accuracy Plot Minimum state duration: 0.5 seconds

Time accuracy: approx. ±1 minute per week (±100 ppm at +68°F),
accuracy detail shown in Plot A

Capacity: 2,000 state changes (requires 8K of memory in HOBO Shuttle to fully offload)

Operating temperature: -4°F to +158°F (-20°C to +70°C)

Relative humidity range: 0 to 95%, non-condensing, non-fogging

Size/weight: 2.4" x 1.9" x 0.8"/approximately 1 oz.

Battery: CR-2032 (lithium); provides one year of continuous use; user-replaceable

Storage temperature: -40°F to +167°F (-40°C to +75°C)

The AC magnetic-field threshold is approximately 2 Gauss at 60 Hz. Position the logger such that its green LED blinks when the motor is on.

FAQs

How do I mount the H06-002-02 Light on/off logger? [show/hide]

This logger must be mounted with the sensor directly facing the light source, preferably inside the light fixture but not too close to the bulb. Be careful to avoid exposing the sensor to outside light sources that could cause false triggering. The sensitivity can be adjusted on the logger to reduce false triggers.

The light on/off logger is recording more states than are actually occurring. [show/hide]

If you are monitoring fluorescent lights, part of what you are seeing may be due to a fairly common attribute of fluorescent lights. When the filaments of a fluorescent lamp and the gas inside the lamp are not up to the normal running temperature (normally the first few minutes after start up), they are likely to flicker a bit.

How do I create a voltage divider? [show/hide]

For input voltage to the logger greater than 2.5 volts DC, you will need to make a voltage divider.
A voltage divider will drop the voltage of the input signal to the level the logger can measure.
First determine the needed attenuation ratio; divide the input volts by the output volts to the logger:
A = input volts/2.5
