IT Technician

Duties and Responsibilities 
The general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position

  • Responsible for repair, installation, and the user's computing environment, as well as user accounts, server-based storage, file security and email accounts
  • Provide LAN/WAN network support
  • Provide technical support for software applications including installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Serve as a liaison between software vendors
  • Monitor and maintain network systems
  • Ensure data and network security
  • Analyze and evaluate the computer network needs of end-users
  • Install, test, and maintain network infrastructure equipment
  • Document network equipment and projects to enhance functionality and compliance
  • Maintain a small inventory of production-ready PCs to keep all production PCs up while addressing any issues
  • Diagnose, identify, and resolve problems
  • Implement corrective actions within established parameters, or refer more complex problems to higher-level technical staff personnel for resolution
  • Utilize diagnostic software and technical support personnel to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented and hardware and/or software are functioning properly
  • Generate appropriate documentation; maintain records of problems, equipment and installations, cabling diagrams, and work performed

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess some of the following qualifications

  • CompTIA A+ (required)
  • CompTIA Net+
  • CompTIA Security +
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to create/maintain/improve network support documentation
  • Ability to design local area networks
  • Network infrastructure troubleshooting
  • Corporate telephone system knowledge.
  • Implementing and monitoring network security
  • Optimizing and maintaining network software and hardware
  • One to three years hands-on IT experience
  • CCENT Cisco routing and switching
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Team player

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This position is full-time and non-exempt
  • Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
  • May also be required to be available for non-business hours
  • The position will operate in an office and manufacturing environment 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma and specialized training (required)
  • Associate's degree in IS (preferred)
  • One to three years of hands-on experience (preferred)
  • Length of hands-on experience considered in lieu of formal education

Workplace Environment

  • The IT Technician position may require standing and/or kneeling for extended periods of time. This position does require the candiate have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
