Making Beer Brewing More Energy Efficient
A group of four engineering master’s students at the University of Michigan have teamed up to make beer brewing more energy efficient. Jarett Diamond, Jazmine Bennett, Kerby Smithson and Gary Fischer are using Onset HOBO data loggers to track the energy used by the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti, Michigan for their engineering master’s project. They are collecting data on a gas-fired boiler, a brew house glycol chiller, some cold room refrigeration equipment and an air-handler to understand where most of the energy is used.
