Connecting a Data Logger to a Metrima SVM F2 Flow Meter

Overview

The Metrima SVM F2-444 is a compact energy meter that outputs a series of electronic pulses* representing the amount of water passing through the sensor (flow) as well as energy (in kWh or BTUs). These signals are fed to a data logger via a pulse input adapter cable(s) where the data is recorded and stored for a selectable amount of time for desktop or web viewing. Equipment

The equipment required to add data logging functionality is as follows:

  • Pulse input adapter, Onset p/n S-UCC-M006. This is a “plug ‘n play” 6m (19.7’) cable that connects the SVM F2 meter to an RJ-12 port at the logger.
(NOTE: If you are planning to use both flow and kWh/BTU outputs from the flowmeter, two pulse input adapters are required.)
  • Data logger, choice of three models: H22-001, U30, H21-002.
  • Logger software, HOBOlink (for use with the U30 models), HOBOware Pro (required for H22 and H21 models)

Connecting

As quick and easy as one, two, three!

1. Connect the pulse terminals in the Metrima to the two wire ends of the pulse input adapter cable as shown below.

connect the pulse terminals to the Metrima

2. Plug the other end of the cable into any available sensor port in the logger.

Connect Pulse Sensor to logger

3. Follow the launch instructions in the logger software as well as for the Metrima meter.
